Why custom orthotics
Custom orthotics are built from a 3-D mould of your foot and prescribed for your specific gait pattern, alignment, and what you're managing. They're different from store-bought insoles — those offer generic support that helps some people; custom orthotics are designed for your case.
We use them when the foot is contributing to a problem further up the chain (knee pain, hip pain, back pain) or when foot pain itself isn't responding to other treatment.

What to expect at your first visit
Initial assessment takes 45 minutes — gait analysis, foot exam, mould casting. Manufacturing takes 2–3 weeks. The fitting visit takes another 30 minutes to confirm fit and walk through break-in. Most insurance plans cover orthotics with a prescription once every 1–3 years.

Do I need a prescription?
For insurance reimbursement, yes — your physiotherapist or physician writes one as part of the assessment. You don't need a separate doctor's visit; we handle it in-clinic.
How long do custom orthotics last?
Typically 3–5 years for adults with moderate use. Athletes, runners, or people on their feet all day may need replacement sooner. We'll re-evaluate fit and wear at your annual check-in.
