Our commitment
Prestige Physiotherapy Inc. is committed to making our website usable by everyone, including people with disabilities. Our target is conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA, and we follow newer guidance from WCAG 2.2 where it applies.
Accessibility is part of how we built this site, not something we added at the end. We continue to test and improve as we add new content.
What we did
Here is what we built into the site:
- Semantic HTML with proper landmarks (header, main, nav, footer), heading hierarchy, and list markup. Screen readers can navigate the page structure without guessing.
- Descriptive alt texton every image. We describe what the image shows, not just “image” or “photo.”
- Visible focus states on every link, button, and form field. You can always see where the keyboard focus is.
- Color contrast that meets WCAG AA: at least 4.5:1 for normal text and 3:1 for large text and meaningful interface elements.
- Full keyboard navigation. You can reach every link, button, and form field with the keyboard alone, in a logical order.
- Screen-reader testing with VoiceOver and NVDA so page content reads in a sensible order.
- Mobile-first responsive design that adapts cleanly across phones, tablets, and desktops without horizontal scrolling.
- Tap targets at least 24 by 24 pixels, aligned with WCAG 2.2 AA, so buttons and links are easy to hit on touch screens.
- Reduced motion respected.Animations and transitions honor your operating system’s “reduce motion” preference.
- Form labels and error messages tied to their fields so assistive technology can read them and announce errors clearly.
Known limitations
We want to be upfront about a few areas:
- Embedded Google Map on our Visit page. The map loads only when you click to open it, which protects your privacy and improves performance, but the embedded map iframe is controlled by Google and may have accessibility limitations we cannot change. Our address, hours, and phone number are always available as plain text alongside the map, so you never need to use the map itself to find or contact us.
- Third-party booking on Jane App.When you click “Book your visit,” you leave our website and arrive at Jane App, which is operated by a separate company. Jane App’s accessibility is governed by its own standards. If you have trouble booking online, please call us at (587) 386-0094 and we will book you over the phone.
- Older blog posts that we migrated from the previous site may still contain images with shorter alt text than we now write. We are reviewing and updating older content as we find it.

If you run into an accessibility barrier on this site, please tell us. Describe what you were trying to do, what page you were on, and what assistive technology you were using if any. We aim to respond within 30 days, and we will work with you to provide the information or service another way.

How we test
We check the site with a mix of:
- Automated accessibility scanners (axe, Lighthouse) on every page before launch.
- Manual keyboard-only walkthroughs of the main user paths (booking, contact, finding service information).
- Screen-reader walkthroughs of the homepage, service pages, condition pages, the team page, and the contact form.
- Color contrast checks against the WCAG AA thresholds for every text and interactive element in our design system.
